Lenten Mission School-wide project

For the past three years, our St. Joseph School Community has been engaged in mission work during the Lenten season. Each class has been encouraged to engage in acts of service and support for others in the larger Cambridge community. Examples of service undertaken over the years include: visiting local retirement homes, inviting the elderly to join us at school to engage in board games and light physical activities, cleaning up the school community, socializing with adults from AIM: Adults in Motion, and making and delivering cookies to local firefighters, to name but a few. This year, each of our classes will again participate in Lenten service work for others. We encourage you to speak with your child in the days and weeks ahead about this important and meaningful act of service.

In addition, we will be working as a school wide community to support Bridges, a local Cambridge shelter. Our “High Five” for Bridges collection will begin on Monday April 8th and end on Wednesday April 17th. We will be collecting one particular item each day of the week. We are hoping to collect as many items as we can according to the following schedule:

  • Monday April 8th: toothbrushes & toothpaste
  • Tuesday April 9th: shampoo & conditioner (adults & children)
  • Wednesday April 10th: deodorant (men’s & women’s)
  • Thursday April 11th: socks (adults & children)
  • Friday April 12th: $5.00 Tim’s cards

We will collect any of the above stated items from Monday April 15th – Wednesday April 17th.  We will deliver our school wide collection to Bridges on Thursday April 18th. Any items that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
